Why mobile grooming?
Mobile grooming creates a quieter, more controlled environment for your dog. Instead of being in a busy salon with other pets, your dog is groomed individually from start to finish right outside your home.
This can make a big difference for dogs that are anxious, older, or easily overstimulated, since there’s less noise, fewer distractions, and no long periods of waiting in-between.
Why does mobile grooming cost more than salon?
It's definitely more than a regular salon! It’s a luxury, one-on-one service that comes right to you. I bring the entire setup with me, and your dog is groomed straight through. No cages, no long waits, and no crowded environment. It’s a lot less stressful for them and way more convenient for you.
It’s kind of like DoorDash—you’re paying a little extra for the convenience, except instead of food, it’s a full grooming setup coming right to your door.
Are there any discounts available?
Yes! Muttor Vehicle Mobile Dog Grooming currently offers a few discounts.
Frequency discount (based on rebooking schedule):
3–4 week schedule = $15 off per appointment
5–6 week schedule = $10 off per appointment
7–8 week schedule = $5 off per appointment
**This discount is applied once per appointment (not per pet).
Multi-pet discount:
$5 off each additional pet in the same appointment.
How they work together:
Both discounts can be combined in the same appointment, but the frequency discount is only applied one time per visit, regardless of how many pets are being groomed.
Example:
If a household has 3 dogs on a 5–6 week schedule, they would receive $10 off the appointment (frequency discount) + $10 off for the two additional dogs ($5 each), for a total of $20 off.
**Please note: Discounts are current programs and may be changed or discontinued at any time.
What does "all-inclusive grooming" mean?
It means your dog’s full groom is covered in one price; the bath, haircut, nails, ears, etc. It also includes specialty shampoos if your dog needs them; like hypoallergenic, deshedding, or deskunking; your dog gets what they need.
Some things like anal gland expression, ear plucking, breath spray, or paw/ nose lotion aren’t automatically done on every visit, but they can absolutely be added if requested or if your dog needs them. Not every dog requires these every time, so they’re just done when needed.
Are there any additional costs?
Usually, no. My pricing is based on the time it takes to complete the groom. Things like matting, overgrowth, or a more nervous/tempered dog are already reflected in the price because they naturally take more time.
The only exception would be if fleas are found and a flea bath is needed. The added fee isn’t really for the bath- it’s for the deep cleaning required afterward to make sure the van stays completely flea-free for other dogs.
Should I let you know if my dog is sick or has fleas/ticks before the appointment?
YES, PLEASE!
If your dog is experiencing vomiting, diarrhea, or just seems unwell before their appointment, it’s best to give them time to recover and check in with your vet if needed. Grooming can already be stressful, and if they’re not feeling well, it can make the experience more uncomfortable for them.
If you suspect your dog has kennel cough, please let me know as soon as possible so we can reschedule. I typically recommend waiting about 10–14 days after symptoms have fully cleared before grooming.
Kennel cough is airborne and highly contagious, even in dogs that are vaccinated. It can be picked up anywhere dogs gather- vet offices, parks, kennels, grooming salons, or pet-friendly stores.
I do clean and disinfect between every appointment and keep proper ventilation running in the van, but even with precautions it can still spread. Because I work with a lot of senior dogs and pets with weaker immune systems, it’s really important to reschedule if there’s any suspicion so we can help keep everyone safe.
If you notice fleas or ticks before your appointment, please let me know right away so I can plan accordingly. This allows me to adjust scheduling and make sure we can properly treat the issue and prevent spreading anything to other pets.
Do I need to be home during the appointment?
Yes, if anything unexpected comes up or I have any concerns, it’s important that you’re available and close by for your pup.
Is there a weight limit or breed restriction?
Yes, I do have a weight limit due to the size of my grooming table, usually around 80–90 lbs depending on the dog’s build and weight distribution.
Because of this, most extra-large breeds (typically 100+ lbs) aren’t a good fit for my mobile grooming service. This can include dogs like Saint Bernards, Great Pyrenees, Bernese Mountain Dogs, Great Danes, Mastiffs, etc.
In some cases, very large individuals of breeds like Golden Retrievers, Doodles, German Shepherds, or Rottweilers may also fall outside of what I can safely accommodate.
Please provide your dog’s correct breed and weight when booking so I can confirm I’m able to take them and avoid any issues on the day of the appointment.
How do you handle dogs that may not tolerate a full groom due to age, behavior, or health?
I always work with each dog’s individual needs and comfort level. Because of that, grooming is charged based on the time spent- whether that’s 30 minutes or 2 hours- regardless of whether the groom can be completed.
If at any point your dog becomes a risk to themselves or to me, or is showing high levels of stress, panic, or a health concern, I will stop the session. Your dog’s safety and well-being always come first. If this happens, I’ll contact you right away so we can talk through what happened and discuss the best next steps.
While I’m trained and experienced, dogs are still unpredictable, and sometimes we can only do what they’re comfortable allowing that day.
As this is still a scheduled service, time spent and travel will still be charged even if the groom is not able to be fully completed.
It’s always best to be open about any past grooming challenges, behavioral concerns, or health needs your dog may have.
Am I able to stay with my pup during the groom?
Typically, no. Even the most anxious dogs usually do better without their owner present. Dogs are very in tune with our energy, and if they sense nervousness or extra attention, it can sometimes make them more anxious or reactive. Some dogs may also become protective or harder to handle when their owner is nearby.
Because of this, it’s usually in your pup’s best interest for me to work with them one-on-one during the session.
That said, in certain cases (especially with senior dogs) I may ask that you stay in the van or assist during the appointment if your dog needs extra support or comfort. This is always determined on a case-by-case basis depending on your dog’s specific needs.
Are vaccinations required?
Yes, I require proof of a current rabies vaccine before the first appointment. If your pup is too young, medically exempt, or there’s another reason they aren’t vaccinated, just reach out and we can talk through it.
Can I book just a nail trim?
Yes, I do offer standalone nail trims. However, because my grooming is all-inclusive, it’s often more cost-effective to book a bath, bath and trim, or full groom since nail trimming is already included in those services.
Do you groom cats?
Muttor Vehicle Mobile Dog Grooming does not offer cat grooming.
Do you have experience with breed-specific / specialty cuts?
Yes- if that’s something you’re interested in, please let me know ahead of time. Most grooms are more practical, so these styles are a bit less common, and having notice allows me to refresh on the look and plan accordingly.
Breed-specific cuts can also take more time, which may affect pricing, so it’s always best to touch base beforehand so I can give you the most accurate quote possible.
What is a "puppy cut" ?
A “puppy cut” isn’t actually a standardized or official grooming style. It’s a term that’s become popular over time and can mean different things to different people.
Generally, it refers to an even length being taken off the coat all over the body, rather than leaving certain areas (like the head, ears, or tail) longer. The goal is a look that gives that “puppy-like” appearance.
If you’re looking for a specific version of a puppy cut, it’s always best to describe what you have in mind or provide a reference photo so I can match your expectations as closely as possible.
Just a heads up- I’m not a magician. ✨
An adult dog’s coat is different from a puppy’s in both texture and color, so while I can achieve a similar style, I can’t recreate exactly how they looked as a puppy.
Do you offer creative grooming or color?
I don’t, but I’m open to it and willing to experiment! If this is something you’re interested in, please let me know ahead of time. I may need time to order the necessary supplies and prepare to make sure everything is done properly.
Will you need access to my home’s power or water?
Nope! My van is fully equipped with a 60-gallon fresh water tank. I plug in overnight to charge the system and warm the water so it’s comfortable for your pup. The only time I’d ever need access to your home power is in the unlikely event of a battery issue, which I do my best to avoid through careful scheduling.
Is there air-conditioning and heat in the salon?
Yes! My van is fully equipped with both A/C and heat so your pup stays comfortable no matter the weather.
Do I bring my dog to the van or do you come to the door?
Once I arrive and set up, I’ll send a text letting you know I’m ready for your pup. At that point, you’ll bring your dog out to the van. In some situations, I may come to the door, but I generally prefer owners bring their dogs to the van for safety.
How do you accept payment?
Cash or card is accepted. Card payments include a 3% processing fee.
Checks, Zelle and Venmo are NOT accepted for payment, but Venmo can be used for tips.
Should I tip for dog grooming services?
Tipping is not required, but it’s appreciated. It’s similar to tipping a hairdresser- optional, but a way to show appreciation if you’re happy with the service.
How does scheduling and appointments work? How can I schedule?
It’s super simple. You can start by texting me with your dog’s information so I can give you an accurate quote. From there, I’ll send you a client registration link to fill out. Once that’s completed, I’ll reach out with my soonest available appointment based on my schedule.
You can also start by filling out the registration form first- then I’ll follow up with your quote and soonest available appointment. After that, we just confirm proof of rabies vaccination and payment methods, and you’re all set!
